"The Call" #5
Battle Ready
(We're an army dressed for battle,
come take this land!)
Joshua (Please read Joshua 1:1-2, 5-7; and
5:13-15). The Lord said to Joshua, "No one will be able to defeat you as long
as you live. Be determined and be confident"--and so he was, and Jericho fell.
As Joshua was approaching Jericho, he saw a man standing in front of him with a
sword... "Who are you? The man answered, I am here as commander of the Lord's
army." As we traverse the world around us, it is easy to fall into despair. All
that is holy is coming under attack. The "Jerichos"
of this world seem insurmountable. There are not! "If God is for us, who can be
against?" We must be battle ready--prayerful, confident and determined so when
we hear God's call, we can move forward with the armies of heaven always by our
side. Jesus told us in Mt. 28:20, "I will be with you always to the end of the
age." Let us put on the full armor of God (Eph. 6).
Questions:
1)
What
walls in your life today seem insurmountable?
2)
Many
of the problems we face today are similar to those faced by us and others in
the past. You are not alone; Jesus is always by your side. Let history be your
guide--think about it.
3)
Read
Ephesians 6:10-13. Be armed, be ready--come take this land. Do you believe
this?
